How does payment work without an account or ID?

HushSMS never sees a card, a bank, a billing address or a name, because there is no field in the system that holds one. The payment is the entire authentication — nothing else is asked and nothing else is stored.

The longer version

Card rails cannot work this way even if a merchant wanted them to. A card transaction carries an identity by design: the issuer knows who you are, the acquirer knows the merchant, and the chargeback system exists precisely to reverse that link. Crypto settles without any of that machinery, which is the entire reason this category prices in it. The invoice holds a fixed exchange rate for ninety minutes, so a price move while you are finding your wallet is our problem rather than yours, and a payment that lands marginally short still settles inside the coverage band.
